Wish we were flying high up in the sky
But we’re sighing as we try hard not to cry
On eagle’s wings we could glide away from those burning sands
Where no-one seems to understand
How much peace is needed to revive good plans
Let me lay my head forever on the billowing flux of time
To take an everlasting trip to the heavenly meadows sublime
Where we knew him once, the man of love, St Francis here in our fields
But we lost him in that eerie glade where wind drove us down and down
Wish we were flying high up in the sky
But we’re sighing as we try hard not to cry
On eagle’s wings we could glide away from those burning sands
Where no-one seems to understand
How much peace is needed to revive good plans
And now they tell me constantly “Don’t say such things aloud”
Or you’ll be sent away on those misty wings and your shape will float in the cloud
You’ll come and go, you’ll erupt in light, your life will be thrown asunder
You’ll search and seek in cyclical time, lost in their terrible thunder
And forever and ever I’ll seek a place, with beauty in the dawning stream
Where my old heart can burst with joy as peace becomes our new theme
No longer confined on the dark edge, no longer burnt by their lies
As we fly on high through rainbow-filled skies
Floating past their danger machines
To the good land beyond my dreams
